Hamburg / Brunsbüttel (Germany), 24.04.2010 - Some 120,000 opponents of the use of nuclear energy took part today in one of the largest anti-nuclear campaigns in recent years. They formed a human chain between the two northern German nuclear power plant sites Brunsbüttel and Krümmel, which reached a length of up to 120 kilometers. It led, among other things across the sparsely populated Hambung and Schleswig-Holstein.

Under the motto "chain reaction - nuclear power switch off" the demonstrators wanted on 24 Anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and two weeks before the regional elections in North Rhine-Westphalia to set an example for the phasing out of nuclear energy. Many alliances were called for holding or taking part: including the SPD, the Greens, unions and environmental organizations.
